Mozilla just announced on the company's blog that they had released a new version of Firefox Focus, their privacy-focused web browser for mobile platforms, with built-in content blocking and tracking protection.
The Firefox Focus Internet browsing app can be used either as a standalone browser or as a robust content blocker capable of blocking ads and social trackers, as well as other embedded content designed to track you around the web.
Moreover, the first addition in the new Firefox Focus release is search suggestions, a feature which will make it a lot faster to get where you want on the web and find what you need in a blink of an eye.
Search suggestions are disabled by default to protect the users' privacy, but the feature can be enabled by going to the app's settings, then to Search, and selecting the "Get search suggestions" checkbox.
The new Firefox Focus version also adds Siri Shortcuts for users with iOS devices, which are a new feature in iOS 12 designed to help you speed up actions in most apps by creating custom trigger phrases.
The new Firefox Focus for iOS and Android adds a revamped interface, search suggestions and a new engine on Android
Furthermore, the latest Firefox Focus release also comes with a design overhaul created to match the new looks of Android Pie and iOS 12, with a tweaked address bar, new icons everywhere, and a settings menu a lot more simple to understand and navigate.
Besides the nice looking outer shell, Firefox Focus also comes with some goodies on the inside, and it now uses Mozilla's GeckoView on the Android platform, giving up on Android's built-in WebView.
Using GeckoView as the engine for the Android version of Firefox Focus provides access to all benefits of the Quantum platform and will also allow Mozilla to add more privacy-enhancing features in future releases.
On the iOS platform, Firefox Focus has reached the 7.0 version and is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices running iOS 11.0 or later, while Android users can install the Firefox Focus 5.2 from the Google Play Store and it requires Android 5.0 and up.
